BulBul Cleanup

What a project! We joined members of Karen Community Church for a "clean-up" of the BulBul streets. There are no garbage service or sanitation services in BulBul. Most garbage is thrown into the streets and set on fire. Children in the community joined us as we filled over 200 bags of garbage. It was a huge event for the KCC church and the BulBul Community!

The black sludge is sewer backup in ditches. Raking and spraying for mosquitos helps to keep less buildup and stink.
Liz, from KCC, Allison and James picking up more sludge!
Chance and church elder Gitau discussing Kenya and American life.

Chance and his shovel were on "sewer" duty.
Youth and children from the community were eager to help clean their streets.
Sr Pastor Luke of KCC joined us. He was amazing to watch going to each house along the way visiting with the BulBul community.
Rachel on "rake" duty. She raked and dug up plastic so we could get it all picked up.
Rachel and her rake!
How we spent the day! Each piece of white is plastic.

We are feeling truly blessed to have become a part of the faith community at KCC. The work being done in BulBul feel just like being at Vancouver First!

See you soon,
Becki and "team mzungo"
